ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) -- According to the patrol, it will be easiest to enforce the new texting while driving law after a serious accident. After such an accident troopers can access cell phone data records to see if they were making a phone call or texting.
Patrol's Tim Hull says enforcing the new federal ban that started Tuesday aimed at cracking down on truckers and charter bus drivers texting while driving.
Hull says troopers will also have a tough time looking up into truck cabins to see if the driver is texting and even when they do, it's hard to figure out which drivers are texting and who is just dialing a phone number.
