ST. LOUIS (AP)  -- Lambert Airport in St. Louis is bracing for one of its busiest periods of the year.

The Thanksgiving holiday period begins today and that  always means an upswing in air travel. Lambert officials urge passengers to arrive at least two hours early. Those with gifts need to make sure they are not wrapped. Passengers are also advised that food and gift baskets should be checked or shipped ahead.

An estimated 38 million Americans were expected to travel at least 50 miles today.
