SEDALIA, Mo. (KMOX) -- A soldier from Fort Leonard Wood is charged with making a terroristic threat at a high school in Sedalia, Missouri.
The Pettis County sheriff says 19 year old Michael Frederick went to Smith-Cotton High School last Saturday night during a senior dinner fundraiser. An assistant superintendent says Frederick told him that the Army had told Frederick to warn all schools in the area about six escaped convicts who might kidnap or hold students hostage. The sheriff says the report of escaped prisoners was not true.
A spokesman in the Pettis County Circuit Court's office says Frederick was arraigned Friday afternoon. The case was continued. His next court appearance is December 1st.
Army officials say Frederick had been reported as AWOL or absent without leave from the post.
