Mother of Mehlville assault victim says attacker's punishment is not enough

MEHLVILLE, Mo. (KMOX)  -- More school violence, this time in the Mehlville School District.

The mother of the alleged victim, who didn't want to give her name to protect her son from further retaliation, says an older boy and her son exchanged words Tuesday at Oakville Middle School.

She says the older boy then followed her son into the restroom.

"He proceeded to punch my son in the face, knocking his head up against the concrete wall," she tells KMOX News.  "Then my son was knocked to the ground and the boy proceeded to kick my son in the face."

She says her son, who was treated for a concussion, wasn't able to fight back.

Though her son's attacker has been given a 10-day suspension, she says that's not enough.

Mehlville school officials tell KMOX the student was disciplined according to district policy.
