HAZELWOOD, MO (KMOX)  -- There's been another school bus beating in the St. Louis area, this one in the Hazelwood School District involving a 14 year old boy and a 15 year old girl.

It happened last Friday afternoon on a Hazelwood West High School bus. The boy reportedly hit the girl several times with his fists.

The students' parents have seen the bus video of the beating, but the district will not release it to Hazelwood police without a subpoena..

Spokeswoman Diana Gulatta says that's because the U.S. Department of Education has told the district that a bus video is considered an educational record and is protected under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.

Meanwhile, the girl is back in school. The boy, who was not supposed to be on that bus, faces punishment ranging from suspension, to expulsion.

Gulotta says the bus driver followed procedure by stopping the bus and kicking the attacking student off. She says there are also no indications other students egged the fight on.
