CLAYTON (KMOX) -- The man in charge of three of the region's casinos could find himself under investigation soon. State Senator Tim Green is requesting an inquiry into actions by Pinnacle CEO Daniel Lee.
"They flew in from Las Vegas," County Councilman Steve Stenger says of Lee. "He came in with his attorney, I think at least one other executive and then the chamber of commerce from my area in south county."
Just fifteen minutes prior to Tuesday's County Council meeting, Stenger says Lee and his entourage proceeded to gently remind him of their influence. They allegedly asked him to vote against zoning for a casino in north county, recalling Pinnacle's large investment in his district for the new River City Casino.
When Stenger voted yes for the north county project anyway, he says Lee jumped up onto the Council's platform - mid-meeting - and shouted that Stenger had just made the worst move of his career.
Senator Green says the threat was serious and wants the Highway Patrol to investigate. Pinnacle Entertainment owns downtown's Lumiere Place and President casinos and the soon-to-open River City in south county.
