COLUMBUS, Ohio (Columbus Dispatch) -- A man wanted for a probation violation out of St. Louis County has been shot to death by a 70 year old woman he was trying to rob in a Columbus, Ohio hotel.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that St. Louis County authorities had issued an arrest warrant for 25 year old Wayne Winston, last of Florissant, when he moved out of state without permission in August, while on probation for tampering with a vehicle.
Wednesday night police say Winston barged into a room at a hotel off I-71 in Columbus and, at gunpoint, ordered six people to the floor. One of them, a 70 year old great grandmother, reached into her purse on the floor, pulled out a .357 magnum and shot Winston in the Chest.
The woman, from Ironton, Ohio, was in Columbus attending the All American Quarter Horse Congress. Her name is not being released.
