St. Louis (KMOX News)  -- The number of power outages in the St. Louis area continues to grow. At 9:00 AM Sunday, Ameren's website indicated more than 48,000 locations on the Missouri side of the Mississippi River were in the dark. In the Metro-east, that number jumped up to nearly 5,900. During an appearance on KMOX's Total Information A-M Sunday, Ameren's Tim Fox said the sustained winds are posing a problem for repair crews, "It's not like a thunderstorm has blown through and all we need to do is clean up." Fox gave no timetable for when specific areas would have their power restored. A National Weather Service "Wind Advisory" remains in effect until 7:00 PM.
