St. Louis (KMOX) -- St. Louis County police are investigating an accident in the Fenton area tonight that sent two people to the hospital. Their SUV went down an embankment and into the Meramec River. St Louis county police spokesperson Tracy Panus tells KMOX News the occupants of the vehicle were a woman in her 60s or 70s and a four year old boy. Both are hospitalized in critical condition. Their car went down an embankment at Riverside and Yarnell...but Panus says they're still trying to determine why it went off the road into the Meramec River. Motorists who saw the accident helped emergency personnel rescue the pair.
