Trooper Involved in Fatal Crash is Sued By Victims' Family

The mother of two sisters killed when their car collided with an Illinois State Police trooper has filed
a $24 million lawsuit against the state, police department and trooper.
The Belleville News-Democrat reported Thursday that Kimberly Dorsey seeks $12 million in damages for each daughter's death.  The lawsuit says the family of 18-year-old Jessica Uhl and
13-year-old Kelli Uhl is permanently deprived of the girls' ``love, society, companionship and support.''
Trooper Matt Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to two counts apiece of reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving. He is free on bond.  Authorities say his police-issued car was traveling 126 miles
per hour on Interstate 64 last November when it swerved into the path of the Uhl sisters' car.
