Smoking ban and Prop. E-9-1-1 both win in the county

CLAYTON, Mo. (St. Louis County Election Office)  -- Final returns are in, in today's election in St. Louis County.

Proposition N, the prohibition on smoking in most public places won approval by voters with 65 percent of the vote.

Proposition E-9-1-1 , the tenth of a percent sales tax issue for an enhanced emergency communications system, won with 67 % of the vote.

in the city of kirkwood... the proposed smoking ban won approval by the same percentage as the county issue: 65 %.

In the race for the 73rd State House district seat , Democrat Stacey Newman beat Republican Daniel O'Sullivan by a 61 to 38 percent margin.

In the 4th State Senate district, in the City of St. Louis...(Jeff Smith's old seat)  Democrat Joe Keaveny had no opposition.

St. Louis County Election officials project a less than 20% percent turnout in Tuesday's election.
