Severe storms roll through St. Louis

St. Louis (KMOX News)  -- Ameren reports at least 17- thousand customers without power at 1AM this morning. The outages are wide spread throughout North, West and South St Louis County. There are also numerous outages in the Central West End...where a number of street lights are out. Police remind motorists to treat an intersection without traffic lights as a four way stop. In the Metro East, some three-thousand Ameren/Illinois customers are without power, mainly in the Alton and Granite City areas. Winds of fifty miles an hour were reported at Lambert Airport. A number of wires were arcing all across St. Louis...at Hampton and Chippewa, police reported a mulch fire. Earlier, in Chrisman, Illinois...tennis ball sized hail was reported. In Hannibal...two semi tractor trailers were blown off Highway 61 At least six tornados were spotted in Northern Illinois.
