Registered sex offender arrested in Belleville

St. Louis (KMOX News) -- A Tennessee man, who police call a registered sex offender, is in police custody after allegedly fondling a twelve year old girl at a Belleville establishment. Police say Robert A. Smith was arrested after patrons at D.S. Vesper's, a bar-restaurant-game room, allegedly saw Smith place his hand under the girl's skirt. A bartender confronted Smith, who left, and was later arrested by police. He's now charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender. He's held on 175-thousand dollars bond. |
