The U.S. Geological Survey confirms that a 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Illinois at 12:38 a.m. There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.
The epicenter was located 5 miles northwest of Mount Carmel, Illinois - about 130 miles east of St. Louis. That's within a few miles of Friday morning's temblor, the strongest of which measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. There have been more than a dozen aftershocks associated with that event.
