GRANITE CITY (KMOX News) -- Graduating seniors at Granite City High School remembered a classmate during ceremonies Friday night.
Matthew Evans died from injuries after he jumped onto a friend's car. After the national anthem, the principal of the high school asked all to remain standing while he read a letter from Matthew's mother, and asked for a moment of silence.
But later, the football stadium crowd erupted into cheers as Matthew's name was read while diplomas were being handed out.
