With the #4 pick in the 2008 the Blues selected defenseman Alex Pietrangelo from Niagra of the Ontario Hockey League. He finished the 2007-2008 season with 13 goals and 40 assists in 60.

Pietrangelo, 18, is 6'3" and 206 pounds.

NHL Central Scouting says Pietrangelo has "the ability to lead" and that his size and vision are comparable to that of former Blues defenseman Chris Pronger, currently with the Anaheim Ducks.
