Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting of an ambulance worker, who was shot along I-64 in East St. Louis while transporting two other shooting victims to a hospital. It happened while the ambulance was on the interstate near 25th Street. Someone drove up to the ambulance and fired shots into the ambulance, striking one of the ambulance workers inside. The ambulance rushed to Kenneth Hall Hospital in East St. Louis where the shooting victim was air lifted to a St. Louis hospital. Originally the ambulance was transporting two shooting victims from Washington Park. A police spokesman tells KMOX news that it appears the man who fired into the ambulance may have been a suspect in the Washington Park shootings and was doing so to make sure the victims were dead...but hit an ambulance worker instead. Police are investigating, but have no more information at this time.
